AirHeads

In developing countries, one of the leading reasons for people not wearing helmets while riding their motorcycles, other than the lack of law enforcement, is heat.

The Airhead is a "half" helmet that contains a removable cooling section. The cooling section is made of ABS plastic with a nylon 46 core. Nylon 46 is a high water-absorbing material that can withstand high temperatures. In humid or tropical countries, the core absorbs moisture from the air. In dry climates, the unit can be removed, letting the user wet the unit.

The idea for cooling the inside of the helmet with moisture came from cooling solutions that are used in developing countries. In these countries, walls are built using terracotta tubes. These tubes are then soaked with water, and any air that passes through them is cooled instantly.
